Wireless power transmission in a relatively close distance have been examined. In this case, we have to generate and propagate an electromagnetic wave in the shape of a beam, because more than 90% power should be received by a receiving antenna. In order to achieve this objective, we proposed beam convergence method which converge a beam by controlling the phase distribution of a transmitting antenna. In this paper, we study the availability of the proposed method experimentally using the phased array antenna of the METLAB facilities. The radiating elements are patch antennas and are arrayed in two dimensions. The phase of each element is determined by the proposed method. The antenna characteristics are examined by experiment, and compared with the analytical result. As a result, we show the validity of the beam convergence method to generate a concentrating electromagnetic wave. |
