In the current study, we aimed to investigate the neural mechanism underlying integration of information in sentence comprehension. We measured the brain activity of an epilepsy patient with electrocorticography (ECoG) during a sentence comprehension task. When comparing the normal sentence condition to the anomalous sentence condition, decreasing power in the mu-rhythm (10-13 Hz) was found at a few electrodes positioned around the left central sulcus. In addition, we observed discriminative increases of phase locking value between electrodes during the periods 100-200 ms, 400-600 ms, and 800-1000 ms after the onset of sentence-final element, respectively. These results suggest that, in the comprehension process of action sentences, lexical information was integrated by the synchronization between temporal cortices, motor-related regions, and language-related regions. |
