Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this study, as a frontend device for the auditory prostheses in animal brain experiments, we have developed a piezoelectric sensor system whose sensitivity range covers ultrasonic frequencies.
In this report, particularly, we propose one device-constitution method which realizes (i) high response sensitivity to sound pressure vibrations, (ii) high selectivity with a narrow frequency-response range in each channel, and (iii) a low power consumption.
Here, we describe the details of the sensor design and its microfabrication technique as well as the measuring method to evaluate mechanical and electric properties of the sensor.
In addition, we compare and contrast our sensor system with other reported systems in previous studies.
One of possible applications is combining our system with an electric stimulation system which directly transmits acoustic signals after decomposition in the frequency domain into the rodent auditory cortex organized in tonotopic fields.
