Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Novel method in estimation of the language lateralization in human brain by means of the analysis of event-related potentials (ERPs) to visually presented words was suggested. ERPs were recorded when the words were presented in either the left visual field or the right visual field. Latency and power of N400 component were compared among the observed ERPs of either visual field. Optimal locations of the scalp recording electrodes and time window in estimation of the language lateralization were discussed. 72.7 percent of the estimated language lateralization were consistent with results from LORETA analysis. It was concluded that the language lateralization can be estimated from ERPs to visually presented words by suggested method in this study.
