Nonaudible murmur (NAM) recorded with a special body-conductive microphone called NAM microphone is one of the promising silent speech interfaces but it easily suffers from external noise signals. To effectively suppress them from the body-conducted signals, external noise monitoring using an air-conductive microphone has been proposed. The noise suppression method using time-invariant linear filtering has been successfully implemented but its performance tends to degrade in real noisy environments including many moving sound sources. To address this issue, in this report, we propose a noise suppression method based on non-negative tensor factorization (NTF) of air- and body-conducted signals. Results of experimental evaluations using the noise signals recorded in real environments show that the proposed method yields significant improvements in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) compared to the conventional method. The results also show that the proposed method is also effective for a change of speech characteristics caused by Lombard reflex. |
