By using thermoacoustic phenomena, an energy conversion system between heat and sound can be realized. Many researches have been reported to improve an energy conversion efficiency of thermoacoustic engine. As the one of the method of improvement way, a Heat Phase Adjuster (HPA) is proposed. In this report, the capability of HPA that may control the resonance mode in the loop-tube-type thermoacoustic system by locally heating the outside is experimentally investigated. As the results, resonance mode changes depending on the position of the HPA. It is shown that the use of HPA enables the resonance mode of the tube to shift to the lower modes. The transition of the resonance mode due to the stepwise change of the input electric power to HPA is also investigated. As the results, it is demonstrated that the resonance mode changes depending on the temperature and there exists a threshold for the HPA temperature to induce the transition. These results suggest the possibility to externally control the loop-tube thermoacoustic system. |
