Opportunistic Routing Using Swarm Intelligence for Ad Hoc Networks

(in English) Recently, ad hoc networks which are composed of only wireless mobile terminals (nodes) have attracted research attentions as a wireless technology development. In ad hoc networks, topological changes and frequent packet losses cause unstable communications. To solve this problem, OR (Opportunistic routing) has been proposed. In OR, each node makes forwarding autonomously when it receives a packet, and thus OR dose not rely on a particular route. However, OR consumes a lot of network resources since OR widely spreads packets to the whole network. The proposed method reduces network resource consumptions and the end-to-end delay, by calculating a backoff time based on reliability of node. The performance and the effectiveness of the proposed method are clarified by computer simulation.
