Drastic improvements of transmission rate and system capacity are required towards 5th generation mobile communications (5G). As promising approaches, one is utilizing higher frequency band which remains rich spectrum resources and another is application of massive MIMO to compensate area coverage shortfall due to the large propagation loss while obtaining high order spatial multiplexing gain. With Line of Sight (LOS) dominant channel environment, multiuser (MU-) MIMO is also effective in further enhancing system capacity. Focusing on high beamforming gain provided by massive antenna array, this paper investigates feasibility of multiuser parallel transmission by sub-arrayed base station and beamforming. Each sub-array conducts the first eigenmode transmission and thus one stream is allocated per user without null-forming. This paper also employs previously proposed 1-tap time domain beamforming (TDBF) which simplifies calculation complexity of precoding. |
