Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The overlaid cell structure, in which a lot of small cells are deployed in a macro cell, is nowadays considered as an effective method to overcome rapidly increasing mobile data traffic. In the cell structure, frequent handovers due to UE's high speed mobility become an issue, which cause the increase of signaling load and the degradation of mobility robustness. To suppress handovers, we proposed the inter-layer handover control, in which base stations estimate UE speed, and keep high-speed UEs connected to macro cells without handing over the UEs to small cells. We evaluated our proposed method with one small cell and one macro cell. In this study, we examined the effect of this method in a realistic scenario with multiple small cells in one macro cell.
