[Encouragement Talk] Latency Analysis in LTE Networks and QoS Control for Minimizing Latency

(in English) The Low-latency characteristic has been discussed as one of the most important factors in next generation networks such as 5G and Tactile Internet. A new network architecture may be needed in order to realize the order of milliseconds latency required in Tactile Internet. It is assumed that the fundamental technology issues will be addressed in 5G networks. On the other hand, the latency of 10–100 ms may be realized in current LTE networks. In this paper, we analyzed the latency in commercial LTE networks and made clear the level of latency realized in LTE networks. Furthermore, we evaluated the effect of QoS control to minimize the U-plane latency by using NS-3 network simulator.
