A Study on In-Network Guidance and Cache Decision Policy in CCN

(in English) In content oriented networks(CON), routers in a network are generally equipped with local cache memories and store incoming contents temporally. Efficient utilization of total cache storage in networks is one of the most important technical issues for caching network in CON and brings reduction of content server load, content download latency and network traffic. Performance of networked cache is reported to strongly depend on combination of caching decision and content request routing. In this paper, we evaluate several combinations of these two strategies. Especially, we take up off-path cache routing, Breadcrumbs, as one of evaluated content request routings. In our performance evaluation, off-path cache routing, Breadcrumbs, shows good performance with TERC(Transparent En-Route Cache) which is well-known to have poor performance with widely used shortest path routing(SPR), and shows poor performance with other caching decisions which has good performance with SPR.
