This paper proposes a novel signal detection method for overloaded multi-user Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) systems where the number of transmit antennas are greater than the number of receive antennas, and such situation increases rapidly, especially in Device to Device (D2D) communications, and the Internet of Things (IoT) connections. Such a situation implies that we have to address overloaded MIMO issues. In this paper, under an assumption that D2D/IoT occasionally transmits a short data communication, we unify captured signals over retransmission preprocesses, i.e., the retransmission expands the space-time channel matrix for increasing its rank. Furthermore, turbo equalization is applied to the expanded channel matrix. This paper validates the proposed turbo equalization scheme by computer simulations, and confirms that the proposed scheme is capable of improving the number of users in even in overloaded situations. |
