In this paper, we focus on a function of channel bonding, which is introduced to IEEE 802.11ac Wireless LAN to increase throughput performance drastically, and examine the impact of channel bonding on communication performance under various practical environment. The channel bonding in 802.11ac extends a range of frequency band up to 80 MHz / 160 MHz compared with that of the conventional IEEE 802.11a/n (20 MHz/40 MHz). However, under the practical environment, coexistence of 802.11ac with channel bonding and the conventional WLAN with 20 MHz band inevitably happens. Therefore, we first investigated the detailed behavior of channel bonding with in the IEEE 802.11ac through the campus-level experiments. Next, we examine how the channel bonding with 80 MHz affects the communication performance, when the channel in use of conventional WLAN is changed. As a result, we found that a function of rate adaptation has a significant impact on communication performance with channel bonding of wide bands. |
