We have developed a 40-Gbit/s class TWDM-PON system that realizes adding various advanced functions to next generation optical access networks. In this paper, we propose high performance λ-tunable burst-mode transmitter that utilizes burst-mode controlled booster SOA with the gain peak detuning technique for the pattern effect mitigation and the reverse bias voltage control technique for the burst-off-level power reduction. Output and burst-off-level power of our proposal obtains over +9 dBm and -64.2 dBm, respectively. Moreover, we successfully confirm 256-splitting-ratio TWDM-PON configuration with under 0.1 dB crosstalk penalty using our proposed high performance λ-tunable burst-mode transmitter for ONU. |
