MUSIC and ESPRIT are high accuracy direction of arrival(DOA) estimation methods using uniform linear array antenna(ULA). However, there are problems that the cost burden increase when a lot of array elements are necessary in the situation with many arrival signals. Therefore, the coprime array has been proposed for DOA estimation to detect more arrival signals than the number of array elements. By using 2M+N-1 elements of a coprime array which is the union of a pair of N and 2M elements ULAs with the same first element, Pal et al. have propsed a spatial smoothing based method and this enables us to perform DOA estimation of MN signals. However, when M and N increase, this method has a problem that the estimation performance degrades significantly. In this research, a high performance DOA estimation method is proposed by using Toeplitz matrix and the numerical examples demonstrate validity of proposed method. |
