OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) signals often have high PAPR (Peak to Average Power Ratio), which causes non-linear distortion at the non-linear HPA (high power amplifier). As one of the PAPR reduction schemes, CSS (Cyclic Shifted Sequences) scheme was proposed. In CSS scheme, subcarriers which constitute an OFDM signal are partitioned into some clusters. Then we give some independent cyclic shifts to the time-domain signals of each cluster individually in order to find out an OFDM signal with the lowest PAPR. We transmit the resulting signal from the transmitter. When using CSS scheme, however, we need to transmit side information about the cyclic shift to the receiver as well. Although a blind method to estimate the side information at the receiver was also proposed, its computational complexity increases as not only the number of subcarriers but also multi-level modulation degree increases. In this paper, to overcome this drawback, we consider to decrease the number of subcarriers used for the estimation of side information. This paper shows that we accomplish almost the same bit error rate as the conventional scheme with half the number of subcarriers if selecting appropriate shift value set and subcarriers. We also investigate the shift value set which reduces PAPR effectively. |
