Comparison of Connection Circuits of Upper Microstrip Line and Lower Waveguide Composed of Microstrip-to-waveguide Transitions and Waveguide Bends in Different Planes

(in English) A connection circuit of a microstrip line and a lower parallel waveguide is necessary to connect a microstrip
antenna and a waveguide feeding circuit. Two different connection circuits of an upper microstrip line and a lower waveguide in
parallel with the substrate composed of a planar microstrip-to-waveguide transition and a waveguide bend are designed and the
performances are compared in this work. The one is composed of an ordinary planar transition with a microstrip line inserted
from the broad wall of the waveguide and an E-plane/H-plane composite waveguide bend. The other one is composed of a
transition with a microstrip line inserted from the narrow wall and an H-plane waveguide bend. As results of the electromagnetic
simulation, broad bandwidth was obtained due to the cancelation of the reflections from the two circuits out of phase depending
on the spacing in the former one.
