This paper proposes an automatic disaster recovery scheme for inter-cloud environment. As cloud environment becomes popular, a disaster recovery scheme is also important to provide stable and reliable cloud services. Some recovery schemes utilize distant clouds when a large-scale disaster impacts a catastrophic damage to a local datacenter. However, it often takes a long time to recover the system manually since typical cloud systems consist of several servers with their complex building procedures. This paper focuses on a cloud orchestration that manages cloud environments across datacenters. We automate a procedure of fault detection, rebuilding a service, and restoration of required data and the procedure is embedded in an inter-cloud orchestration tool. A preliminary
evaluation result shows that our automation scheme recovers a website in about nine minutes after a pseudo-disaster occurrence. |
