Design of High-Order Quantum Well Microring Resonator Filter Using Design Method for Digital Filters

(in English) We discuss the application of a design method for digital filters to designing microring resonator (MRR) wavelength-filters for the improvement of their filter characteristics. This method has advantages such as simplicity and unambiguity compared to conventional methods. Furthermore, this method enables us to flexibly and easily design MRR filters with the desired resonance wavelength, 3 dB wavelength-band width, and free spectral range (FSR). In this work, we design
quantum well MRRs using this method in consideration of propagation loss in MRRs and coupling loss at couplers that have never been considered in digital filter design so far, and show the availability and effectiveness of the proposed method.
