Traveling wave propagation observed in cylindrical inkjet printhead -- Measurement of sound velocity in water and its singular point --

(in English) Inkjet printhead having width of 300 mm and 110 nozzles which are aligned along with cylindrical fluidic tube generated aqueous ink drops from pressurized jets by traveling wave at around 150 kHz propagated by the ultrasonic oscillator at an end and the acoustic terminator at another end of the tube. Although the sound velocity showed around 1500 m/s measured by the phase shift at drop separations which is normal value in water, a singular point was measured and the drop generation was observed irregular situation at specific frequency. The reason was predicted to be due to the suspended bubbles, and then the degassing of the ink performed normal drop generation.
