Design of a Microstrip Bandpass Filter Using Composite Resonators with Multiple Transmission Zeros and Improved Stopband Characteristics

(in English) In this paper, a microstrip bandpass filter (BPF) using composite resonators is designed first, which has multiple transmission zeros near its passband to obtain a sharp roll-off between its passband and stopband. Next, a compact microstrip coupled-line hairpin resonator lowpass filter (LPF) is designed, which has three transmission zeros to get a wide stopband. The BPF and the LPF are cascaded then to realize filtering characteristics with both a sharp roll-off and a wide stopband. A filter with a midband frequency of f0=2 GHz, a fractional bandwidth of 10%, a passband ripple of 0.01dB, and more than 10 transmission zeros located between 1.3~7 GHz is designed, and a stopband with attenuations larger than 30 dB is extended up to 6.8 GHz (3.4f0). The measured filter response agrees well with the predicted one.
