Experimental study on systematic error measurement of weights of array feed for onboard satellite communications antenna

(in English) Direct radiating phased array antenna and array fed reflector antenna will be used as onboard satellite antenna in the future because a phased array antenna allows for easy electrical beam steering and beam shaping. We then we have been researching and developing the DBF/channelizer (digital beam former and digital channelizer) for the onboard phased array antenna and transponder in communication satellites, because it provides excellent flexibility in beam control. However, the characteristics of the phased array antenna, such as beam shape, orientation, gain and sidelobe, depend on the systematic error of amplitude and phase distribution of the feed. Hence we have studied a method for correcting the systematic error in orbit. In this paper, we propose a method for measuring the systematic error of amplitude and phase distribution using a small antenna that is referred to as a “pickup antenna” and describe the experimental results of error measurement performed using this antenna.
