[Invited Talk] NIJL's Strategy on Digitalization of Pre-modern Japanese Texts

(in English) The “Project to Build an International Collaborative Research Network for Pre-modern Japanese Texts” was inaugurated at the National Institute of Japanese Literature in 2014. Two years since our project was launched, seventy-two thousand of the target three-hundred thousand classic book images have already been produced. There are two important issues to deal with regarding research using images of classic books. The first is how to read cursive scripts. The second is how to find the information you want among the three-hundred thousand images. NIJL is currently studying the possibility of undertaking this project.
