Stabilization of spin polarization of field emitted electrons using interlayer antiferromagnetic Cr (001) surface

(in English) It is important to evaluate spin states at magnetic surfaces for developments of spintronics devices by utilizing both electronic charge and spin. The spin-polarized electron beam is expected to be used as a probe for evaluations and observation of magnetic surfaces. For evaluations of magnetic property at the surface and interface with high sensitivity, spin-polarized electron emitter with high brightness and high spin polarization. In this study, we adopted a Cr(001) surface as cathode material because the orientation of electron spins is antiparallel atomic layer by layer along <001>-direction. In this paper, fabrication and observation of a Cr thin film on W<001> tips by field emission and ion microscopy, and preliminary results of spin polarization of field-emitted electrons from the surface are discussed.
