[Invited Talk] Sensor developments for swallowing and excretion

(in English) The number of the elderly people is increasing in Japan and the number of the care receiver is also increasing with it. Therefore, burden on the caregiver is increasing. Caregivers cannot detect visually the swallowing of care receiver in meal assistance. We developed an apron equipped with a sensor for detection of swallowing for caregivers. Typical signals were obtained during the swallowing; however, it was hard to detect the typical signals automatically. Meanwhile, toileting is also problem in the nursing home. It is difficult to easily measure the excretion presence and excretion. We developed a non-contact sensor that measure urine in the toilet. It was obtained that amount of volume, velocity, and urination time. Moreover, a database of urination was constructed and the data was browsed remotely. , , , ,
