Location and heart-rate data transmission control for vital sensing from a large number of densely-located exercisers

(in English) In recent years, vital data monitoring of people playing various exercises has attracted significant attentions, and a system collecting vital data from a large number of people in a real-time and reliable manner is required in the field of sports and school education. However, in such a data collection from a large number of densely located exercisers, severe congestions occur due to the excessive demand as compared with available bandwidth, and success rate of data collection decreases. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a transmission control where the vital data is transmitted only when each node detects larger variation in the sensed data than a fixed threshold. The proposed scheme avoids transmitting unnecessary data, thereby improves the success rate of more important data transmissions. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, we define two scenarios in a sports day for a school, which are warming-up exercise and footrace. We create a model of variation of vital data under these two scenarios based on the measurement data of heart rate. Then, with computer simulations employing the created model, we investigate the effectiveness of the proposed transmission control scheme.
