The Character-based Health Management System for Elderly People Living Alone using Behavior Changing and Captology

(in English) In recently, elderly people in long-term care have been increasing in Japan. More than half of them have lifestyle-related disease. It is important to improve their lifestyle for preventing lifestyle-related disease, and for decreasing the number of elderly people in long-term care. In this study, we propose a self-healthcare management system using a television set to prevent a lifestyle-related disease for elderly people living alone. This system displays the measurement results of their vital data and informs measuring daily schedule of vital data on their television. We verify the effectivity of this system for preventing a lifestyle-related disease.
