Low-cost water level sensor is necessary for a large scale deployment of water level management in many fields.Conventional water level sensor other than mechanical ones uses capacitive sensor or Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR).Capacitive sensor is too sensitive to disturbances such as sensor's temperature, salt concentration, dirty electrode, etc., while sensor using TDR is robust but mainly used for researches because of its expensive cost.In this paper, we propose a simple TDR system using feeder lines and Charge Time Measurement Unit available in a mass-produced microcontroller.Our experiment using feeder lines and PIC gives a stable one-valued function between reflection time and water level. |
