Estimation of Railway Passenger Volume in Tokyo Metropolis Using Mobile Phone GPS Data and Railway Network Data

In Japan, it was able to get information about station of railway passengers used by spread electronic money for traffic, but it is difficult to know the root on the way. There is a questionnaire survey like person trip survey, but it is difficult to survey continuous. On the other hand, using positional information like the GPS data, it is becoming possible to get people flow with and continuous. And because GPS function can get data automatically, it is possible to survey continuously. In this research, we used movement trajectories got from smart phone’s GPS function, and estimated the number of railway passengers as first step of estimation of rail way passengers. Then, we examine the possibility of the utilization situation survey about multiple railway of different railway companies with using GPS data. |
