The electric vehicle is needs for the large capacity of batteries, and the dissimilar metal of an aluminum plate and a copper plate used in the electrode portions, and there metal welding techniques are required. One of them is the ultrasonic welding method. However, it has been used the vibration of such as a conventional general metal welding is linear vibration in one only direction. But the conventional ultrasonic welding produces low weld strengths, and the weld strength is different depends on the vibration direction of the welding target. To solve these problems, we have been studied the welding using an ultrasonic vibration source of planar vibration obtained by driven at two separate frequencies simultaneously of longitudinal and torsional vibration.
In this study, a copper plate and an aluminum plate were used as welding targets, welding characteristics by varying vibration type and welding conditions were examined. As the results, the welding strength in the case of planar vibration was stronger, and substantially constant value in welding time by 5 s. Also, the weld strength revealed that proportional in the weld area regardless of vibration type. |
