Blind people depend on only audio feedback when they use touch interfaces such as smartphones. The size of mobile devices that is suitable for touchscreen manipulation has been not clear. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of mobile device size on non-visual exploration of icons in touch interface. We conducted an experiment in which participants explored the icons on the touchscreen with four different screen sizes. We analyzed the time taken to complete the exploration, the exploration strategies and the subjective evaluations. As the result, mobile devices with the screen size of 4.7 inch produced the shortest exploration time and obtained the highest subjective evaluation among four devices. |
