Automated Design of Microstrip Parallel-Coupled Bandpass Filters Using Neural Network Based on Coupling Matrix

(in English) In order to reduce the time required for designing microwave bandpass filters (BPFs), a filter design using neural network (NN) has been performed so far. However, even if the NN is employed for filter design, conventional methods take computation time to tune the filter structure since microstrip BPFs intrinsically have undesired couplings. In this paper, we propose a new NN modeling technique for automated design of microstrip BPFs. In the proposed technique, the NN is constructed based on the coupling matrix of transversal array filter circuit, which can evaluate all the couplings including undesired couplings as eigenmodes of coupled resonators. As a design example, third-order microstrip parallel-coupled BPFs are automatically designed by the constructed NN. The validity of the proposed method is verified by comparing the EM simulation results with synthesized ones.
