In order to synthesize more natural speech in Japanese text-to-speech systems, we improved accent sandhi rules. Conventional accent sandhi rules were developed by Sagisaka et al. and they are widely used. However, since there are no rules related to numerals and counter words, estimation accuracy of accent type for accent phrases including numerals and counter words is still not sufficient. In this paper, we tried to comprehensively improve the accent sandhi rules as well as those related to numerals and counter words, with reference to accent rules at word combination defined in the accent dictionaries. In addition, accent estimation experiments were conducted using the conventional rules and the improved rules, and effectiveness of the improved rules was evaluated. The experimental results showed that correct answer rate of the estimation by the improved rules was higher than that by the conventional rules, and improvement of accuracy was confirmed. Especially, the accent estimation using newly added rules on numerals and counter words showed a larger improvement. |
