Performance Evaluation of User Scheduling in Full-Duplex Cellular Networks

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In full-duplex cellular (FDC) networks, a base station (BS) simultaneously transmits and receives signals on the same frequency band, and thus the FDC networks have a potential to double the spectral efficiency.
However, self-interference and inter-user interference are limiting the performance of the FDC networks.
To investigate the impact of these interferences on the performance of the FDC networks,
we have formulated the capacity of normalized signal-to-interference-plus-noise power ratio (SINR) -based scheduling: user scheduling based on proportional fair scheduling (PFS) in FDC networks.
PFS in FDC networks selects users according to the instantaneous data rate normalized by the average throughput, and
on the other hand our scheduling selects users according to the instantaneous SINR normalized by the average SINR.
The assumption that a pair of DL and UL users is an independent set enables the formulation of the capacity.
In this paper,
to evaluate the validity of the assumption of a user pair being an independent set,
numerical simulations are conducted.
Simulation results show the capacity on this assumption has the same characteristics as that on the assumption of a non-independent user set.
