This paper proposes a successive interference cancellation (SIC) using differential detection for independent component analysis (ICA)-based spatial division multiple access (SDMA) for Bluetooth low energy (BLE) systems. Typically, channel state information (CSI) needs to be estimated with orthogonal pilot signals in SDMA. According to BLE specification, however, such an orthogonal pilot signal is not included in the BLE packet We apply ICA in order to separate spatially multiplexed signals without pilot signals. In this instance, we have three problems to be dealt with. First, ICA needs enough samples to exhibit the signal separation capability. Then, phase ambiguity included in ICA outputs. Finally, ICA detector induces noise enhancement. For addressing these three problems, we propose a unified desgn of ICA process for oversampled signals, differential detector, and SIC for ICA-based SDMA for BLE systems. Simulation results show that the validity of the proposed design in terms of the packet error rate (PER). |
