For transmitting large-volume data such as 4K/VR videos on future networks, high frequency wave RAT (Radio Access Technology) is considered to be an effective solution. High frequency wave RAT enables high-speed communication over a gigabit per second on radio access networks. However, high frequency wave RAT is not suited for covering wide range area, and therefore it is considered that high frequency wave RAT is to be applied in combination with other existing RATs such as LTE. In such mixed access networks, it is concerned that radio link bandwidth would fluctuate dramatically compared to an access network which consists of a single type RAT because of establishing/disconnecting radio link, fluctuating radio quality and so on. In such a situation, TCP communication throughput would not increase rapidly, even if radio link bandwidth is increased, because of the congestion control function in TCP. In this paper, we propose a new TCP congestion control method which makes communication throughput follow the fluctuation of radio link bandwidth immediately by adjusting congestion window on the basis of current available bandwidth information given by base station. We also show a computer simulation result by ns-3 that proves our proposed method enables immediate high-speed communication without intruding on other TCP flows. |
