A Congestion Reducing Scheme in two-tier Cellular Networks using Device to Device Communication

(in English) In cellular networks such as LTE, it may be impossible for a user to satisfy data communication if a large number of User Equipments (UEs) connect to the base station. We propose a congestion mitigation method as one solution to this problem. Our proposed method transfers traffic to neighboring non-congested base stations using Device-to-Device (D2D) communication. As a result, the number of UEs capable of data communication within the coverage area can be increased. In this paper, we propose a method for two-tier cells composed of macro-cells and pico-cells. We evaluated performance of our proposed method by simulation.
