(in English) Analysis of muscle dynamics by biomechanical simulation is helpful in diagnosis and treatment planning in orthopedics. Modeling of skeletal muscles including direction of muscle fiber enables an accurate patient-specific analysis. Muscle fiber structure has been analyzed using diffusion tensor MRI and ultrasound image, but these modalities suffer from the disadvantages of long imaging time and small field of view. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating direction of muscle fiber patient-specifically using CT image. We evaluate the fiber structure around the hip joint estimated from the CT image against the ground truth estimated from a series of high-resolution cross sectional photographs of a cadaver specimen(Visible Korean Human dataset).
