Rate-sum/ performance gain trade-off on IDMA-based MUD

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The primary objective of this paper is to identify the impact of the source correlation on interleave division multiple access (IDMA) based multi-user detection (MUD) with soft successive interference cancellation (SSIC). The investigations over AWGN channel and frequency selective fading channel show that the IDMA system can achieve better bit error rate/ frame error rate (BER/FER) performance with higher source correlation via joint decoding process. Furthermore, a trade-off between rate-sum and performance gain is then analysed under the AWGN channel assumption through Slepian-Wolf (S-W) and MAC rate region, based on the sufficient condition of the problem of correlated sources transmitted over multiple access channel (MAC). This analysis shows that the equivalent rate-sum is lower with the higher source correlation and can help to flexibly allocate transmission rate in cooperative communication systems.
