On the effectiveness of FILS with IEEE802.11ad wireless networks

(in English) IEEE802.11ad is a standard specification for millimeter-wave wireless networks.
It enables high speed and large capacity wireless networks by using wide frequency band at 60GHz.
However, the cell size is smaller than one of the conventional wireless lan systems that use 2.4 and 5GHz band because millimeter-wave has short communicaiton range result from high propagation loss.
For the reason, using millimeter-wave wireless LAN while moving is not suitable.
FILS(Fast Initial Link Setup), which has been standardized at IEEE802.11ai can shorten initial link set up time for obtaining a longer time of data communication.
In this paper, we conducted simulations of the initial link set up procedure of FILS and WPA2 enterprise in IEEE802.11ad networks.
The simulation results show that FILS can drastically shorten the initial link set up time and reduce the failue ratio of initial link set up caused by simultaneous starts of initial link set up by many users.
