In basic study of ultrasonic exposure, we have studied the sound filed distribution in a pseudo ear canal set up a mannequin head under the ultrasonic irradiation at the frequency 20 kHz – 40 kHz to estimate the sound pressure around the eardrum. Previous studies using dummy heads have revealed that there is a possibility of estimating the sound pressure in the vicinity of the ear drum from the peak value of the standing wave sound field formed in the ear canal. On the other hand, in order to put this estimation method into practical use, it is necessary to study the influence of individual differences in auricle shape on sound pressure near the ear drum.
In this report, we investigate the effect of individual difference of auricular shape on the sound pressure near ear drum using the silicone pseudo auricle made based on the actual auricle shape. |
