In this paper, a novel modeling method of DC superimposition characteristic in dust core materials and the design method are proposed. The attractive features of dust core materials are high saturation magnetic flux density and shape flexibility, and dust core materials enable to deal with the large current, and reduce the size and weight in comparison with magnetic materials with low saturation flux density property. However, it is difficult to design the inductor because inductance reduction occurs at low current due to its unique current superimposition characteristic. In the proposed design method, by designing DC superimposition characteristic with approximate expression, inductor can be designed computationally without empirical rules. In addition, the validity of the proposed method was verified by comparing simulation and measurement results. |
