DPD-ICIoT: A Distributed Publisher-Driven Secure Data Sharing Scheme for Information-Centric IoT

(in English) In an Information-Centric Internet of Things (ICIoT), IoT data can be cached throughout the network for close data copy retrievals. Such distributed data caching environment poses a challenge on flexible authorization in a distributed manner. To meet this challenge, Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE) has been identified as a promising approach. However in the existing CP-ABE scheme, Publishers need to retrieve the attributes from the centralized server for encrypting data, which leads to high communication overhead. To solve this problem, we employ the CP-ABE to propose a novel Distributed Publisher-driven secure Data sharing for ICIoT (DPD-ICIoT) scheme to enable the distributedly cached IoT data to only be retrievable by the authorized Users. In the DPD-ICIoT scheme, Attribute Manifest (AM) is novelly introduced and cached in the network, through which Publishers can retrieve the attributes from the nearby copy holders instead of the centralized attribute server. Meanwhile, a key chain mechanism is utilized for efficient cryptographic operations, and an Automatic Attribute Self-update Mechanism (AASM) is proposed to enable the fast update of the attribute without querying the centralized servers.
