(in English) Safety evaluation is important for development of visual prostheses. Safety assessment requires understanding the long-term characteristics of a recording electrode. This study reports the method to evaluate the characteristics of a recording electrode implanted into a rabbit using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and frequency analysis of visual evoked potential (VEP). From the result of frequency analysis and EIS, only charge transfer limitation occurs at the electrode surface within a range of frequency included in the VEP. The recording electrode surface could be simulated with a simple equivalent circuit.
