Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) has possibility to enable a variety of network services by flexibly combining multiple object types such as virtual resources (VRs) or virtual network functions (VNFs). In combining those objects, a NFV controller needs to allocate those objects to physical resources (e.g. servers, networks) and in allocation, the controller needs to solve optimization problems that are specified for each object type, such as balancing the server loads for VRs.In addition, the NFV controller should also be extendable in terms of addition of new object type. One approach, building an algorithm that solves an optimization problem for each object type (VRs, VNFs) and independently executing those algorithms might lead non-optimized resource allocation. The other approach, building an algorithm that simultaneously solves combined optimization problems is not extendable. In this paper, we propose an extendable framework, which realize efficient resource usage by coordinating multiple control algorithms through information sharing among them. This information sharing method is based on reinforcement learning. We also show the effectiveness of the proposed method through simulations. |
