The drastic growth of traffic demand motivates the exploration of the underutilized frequency spectrum on the high frequency band for future wireless communications. Transmission in this frequency band, however, will be largely affected by the Doppler spread. To overcome this problem, a Doppler compensation technique for a massive multiple-input multiple-output (massive MIMO) scenario is proposed in this paper. By exploiting the channel reciprocity of a time division duplexing transmission, we obtain the Doppler shift information of the channel and conduct the Doppler compensation at the transmitter. The Doppler compensation is conducted by independently updating each element of the zero forcing precoder matrix without recalculating the inverse matrix of the channel. Computer simulation shows that our proposed technique enables the massive MIMO transmission even when the value of maximum Doppler frequency is large. |
