A study on Dynamic Service Chain Allocation Method Considering Service Duration and Server Resource Utilization

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Service chaining composed of several different virtual network functions (VNF) is one of use cases with Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
In service chaining, efficient physical resource allocation is necessary to consider that service requirements differ between VNF and logical links connecting them. In this paper, in order to accommodate services required many resources, we proposed novel dynamic resource allocation methods considering the duration of service in each service chain.
In addition, in order to reduce the number of used physical links between VNF, we proposed a resource allocation method that switches between conventional and proposed methods according to the server resource utilization.
We evaluated the performance of proposed methods through simulation.
As a result, we showed that our proposed methods could reduce the request brocking probability in services required many resources by 87% than the conventional method. Moreover,
we showed that the control switch method could reduce the number of used physical links in the proposed method.
