A Proposal on Optimizing End-to-End Network Test based on Topological Similarity

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In general, we assume each end-to-end test is carried out based on actual measurement of end-to-end path quality under intentional link shutdown. The ideal network test is to guarantee end-to-end connection for any pair of clients with a failure of any link. However, time and human resources that can be dedicated to the test are limited which prevents such an ideal test. Therefore, our objective is to reduce the number of such measurement trials. In this paper, we introduce a concept of “similarity” among measurement trials. We leverage topological similarity to realize the concept and formulate a problem of minimizing the number of measurement trials and conduct simulation experiments to show the effectiveness.
