To fuel the R&D of advanced optical networks, we have established an optical packet and circuit integrated (OPCI) network testbed. Since the establishment of this OPCI network testbed, various research projects have been conducted on it, and it is undergoing evolution to an open research platform which can be shared among research community widely. In particular, for the easy access and utilization of this testbed by researchers who are remotely located, we established a remote-lab environment in the OPCI network testbed. It enables the outside researchers to perform remote experiments with the testbed resources including not only in the data-plane, control-plane, but also the test and measurement instruments from the optical layer to the IP layer. The automated remote test and measurement capability is not only helpful for the experimental studies of optical networks based on the testbed, but also enables the automated service validation for the future networks, e.g., the service validation and measurement can be performed automatically accompanying with network provisioning and configuration. |
