Circular Polarization Conversion Reflectarray Antenna Constructed by Arranging Double Omega-Shaped Reasonance Elements with Mirror Image

(in English) This paper proposes novel reflectarray elements constructed by arranging double omega-shaped resonance strips with mirror image for both broadband frequency response and reduction of cross-polar radiation patterns. To verify effectiveness of the proposed elements, we have designed a linearly polarized reflectarray by using them in the Ku-band, and also frequency response is evaluated numerically. Furthermore, for converting a linearly polarized incident field into a circularly polarized radiated wave, the strip dimensions of the unit cells are designed to provide a reflection phase difference of 90 degrees between TE- and TM-waves over a wide bandwidth. As a design example, a linear-to-circular reflectarray with a linearly polarized feed is presented and also polarization property of far-field patterns over 12-17 GHz is discussed numerically and experimentally.
